Prevention of soreness, pain, slippage and chewing problems
The primary cause of the majority of problems with dentures is a bad fit. Creating a perfect fit is a combination of science and art, a process Dr. Palani is well versed in. He has many years of experience and advanced training in denture design and placement. He will make sure your dentures fit precisely to your mouth and are pain-free and comfortable, too. He can also employ other denture solutions, such as implant-supported dentures.
Instead of utilizing metal clasps, no-metal partials are made using very strong plastic clasps. No- metal partials are perfect for most denture wearers. The exceptions are people who clench or grind their teeth or who have a heavier bite.
After teeth extraction there’s no reason to go home without teeth. Dr. Palani will fit you with comfortable, attractive temporary dentures until your mouth has healed. Then he will fit you for permanent dentures, a bridge or implants.Back to the top
Denture Stabilization: Implant-Supported Dentures
We can stabilize your dentures with dental implants so that your dentures don’t slip, are comfortable and you get back your chewing power! Dentures can be stabilized with as little as two implants. The more implants the more stable the denture and the more natural the look and feel.
Dr. Palani has earned Fellowship awards from both the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the Academy of General Dentistry. So he is very well-versed in the use of dental implants to anchor dentures.
The benefits of implant-supported dentures
Dr. Palani creates and places top-quality implant-supported dentures for the optimum stabilization of your dentures. Implant-supported dentures have many benefits:
- No need for sealants or adhesives
- Increases your ability to chew food
- There’s nothing covering the roof of your mouth
- With implants, your jawbone is more preserved, which will help keep the gum line stable and less shrinkage of the lips and cheeks
- Pressure for chewing is distributed to the teeth as well as the gums, which are not designed to take pressure
- Eating feels more natural for many users
Bone loss can eventually cause problems with the wearing of dentures. This includes changing the appearance of your face, giving it a sunken look. However, a denture anchored by implants is much more stable than a regular denture. Plus you’ll find that it’s easier to speak. Better yet, you won’t have to worry about the denture falling out of your mouth.
What is an implant-supported denture?
Implant-supported dentures are usually made for the lower jaw since conventional dentures are usually less stable there. But you can receive implant-supported dentures in either jaw. This can give you the added benefit of nothing covering your mouth’s roof. An implant-supported denture snaps into implants placed in the jawbone. The denture fits over a bar or ball and socket. It is then securely clipped into place by the attachments.
With six to eight implants in a jaw, the need for the pink plastic sides is eliminated and your dentures will emerge from the gum just like natural teeth.
Fixed Implant-Supported Dentures
Dentures can also be screwed into the implants so that they remain fixed. This gives you a lot of chewing power. And you do not have to take the dentures out. When it comes to a fixed implant-denture, only your dentist can remove it. A downside to fixed implant-dentures is that they are more difficult to clean.
